Is it safe to drill into wall when I hit a metal plate?

If your right at the top of the window , there shouldnt be any plates in that area the house was built in 97 , im uming you hitting a drywall screw , most drywall is screwed to the lid or walls, move over 1/2 inch and see if thats it
