Any other way to take vicodin?

My husband has a prescription to 500mg vicodin, but since he is also sick with the flu he cannot keep anything down.. He has thrown up everything he has tried to keep down. He is in a lot of pain and needs to take his prescription. Is there any other way he can ingest the vicodin? I was reading about ly, but I don't think that would be safe. Suggestions?
