Having a co signer for a year on a auto loan?

The car dealership im thinking about going with says I only need a co signer for a year and after that they can be removed. My sister is willing to do it for the year but she is very unsure of the cirstances and does not want to be held responsible after that if anything happend. had anyone ever hear of a program like this before?
