Advent 7203 laptop - how do I stop the mad flashing lights when it's on the internet?

I bought a new laptop yesterday - an Advent 7203 from PCWorld. When I go on the net it's like the bloody thing is trying to land a plane or something. Two lights continually flick on and off incessantly. How do I get these to stop? If I can't I'll have to return the laptop cos it's already doing my head in. Thanks
